Having undertaken numerous feasibility studies, funding and delivery plans for Country House Estates in Ireland, in 2023, we were commissioned by the privately owned Castle Leslie Estate (Leslie Foundation) to develop a long-term Vision Strategy and Development Prospectus for this renowned heritage destination in County Monaghan.
Framed within the emerging principles of regenerative tourism, the strategy positioned Castle Leslie as a flagship eco-tourism destination, designed to deliver lasting environmental, economic, and cultural value, not just to the estate, but to the surrounding village of Glaslough and the wider border region.
Our work centred on the development of an Integrated Framework Plan (co-developed with local stakeholders.) connecting Castle Leslie Estate, and Glaslough Village. We authored a development prospectus for six signature Eco-Tourism Projects, entitled ‘Wrapped in Nature’, it included a development manifesto rooted in heritage, landscape, and sustainability, articulating a regenerative vision for land use, visitor experience, and long-term stewardship. Each project within the prospectus was supported by an outline business case balancing commercial viability with stewardship.
From estate rewilding and walled garden restoration to the creation of a rural skills academy and sustainable events infrastructure, every ambition was underpinned by environmental responsibility and long-term viability.
